Opening Malware exhibition, including lecture by Jussi Parikka

On Thursday 4 July you are cordially invited to the opening of Malware: Symptoms of Viral Infection, an exhibition in Het Nieuwe Instituut about the history and evolution of the computer virus (5 July – 10 November 2019). The opening programme includes a lecture by Finnish media researcher Jussi Parikka.

The exhibition Malware: Symptoms of Viral Infection, curated by Bas van de Poel and Marina Otero Verzier, presents an overview of infamous malware, from early DOS viruses, to advanced worms, spyware and ransomware. These form the starting point for an exploration of questions of security, warfare and geopolitics in times of rapid technological advance.

The opening programme includes a lecture by Jussi Parikka starting at 19:00 followed by a festive opening toast and an introduction to the exhibition by the curators at +/- 21:15.

Yes, I'll be at the opening

If you would like to attend the lecture, kindly ensure that you arrive at 18:45. We expect the event to be popular and full means full. Jussi Parikka will start at 19:00 sharp. Feel free to attend the opening after the lecture, at 21:00.

The Malware exhibition is accompanied by an extensive web dossier that can be consulted both at the exhibition and online: malware.hetnieuweinstituut.nl
